James Kember's story

James Kember before surgery James Kember after surgery

James Kember

I truly am amazed at the results following my weight loss surgery. I went into the procedure thinking and hoping for a better way of life, but never in a million years expected these results.
I was always chubby as a child but was a good comfortable weight between the age of 18 – 20, however, like many people, I always struggled maintaining my weight and in 2001 I met someone very special, fell in love, got very comfortable (in other words lazy) and pilled on the weight. By August 2008, I had ballooned to a massive 23 stone and to a guy who couldn’t even put on his own socks in the morning.

The change in my appearance and lifestyle, since the surgery has been phenomenal. I went from a lazy, morbidly obese, lifeless, sad and lonely guy whose weight was spirally out of control, to a fun loving, full of life, handsome young man, that I always knew I could be!!!
Having lost an incredible 9 stone, people no longer recognise me in the street. I finally have a life back and am truly loving and appreciating every minute of it. It is such a fantastic feeling being able to walk into these young trendy high-street clothes shops (which I used to despise and never go near) and buy anything I like.

The WLS Group have been fantastic all the way, particularly Colleen Campbell who has consistently called during the past 12 months to see how I’ve been progressing, and every time she calls, all I ever say is ‘I’m doing great’ as I have never had any complications or any reason for complaint. My only regret Is that I didn’t find out about the ‘Gastric Bypass’ year’s ago, as being still only 26, I unfortunately missed out on numerous night’s out with friends, over the years, where I would hide away in my room feeling sorry for myself with not being able to fit into any nice clothes.
