Profile

Mr Shamsi El-Hasani is a Consultant Surgeon at Bromley NHS Trust, mainly based at The Princess Royal University Hospital, with other NHS clinical activities at Beckenham and Orpington hospitals.

His private practice is allocated at BMI hospitals (Chelsfield Park Hospital and The Sloane Hospital). For the last 20 years Mr El-Hasani has mainly specialised in upper gastrointestinal and hernia surgery. He offers a wide variety of bariatric/weight reduction surgery, which includes laparoscopic insertion of gastric band, gastric bypass and endoscopic insertion of gastric balloon. He also accepts the management of revisional surgery of previous bariatric procedures.

Mr El Hasani is experienced in the endoscopic diagnosis of dyspepsia/indigestion and has performed a large series of laparoscopic/keyhole surgery in the management of gastro oesophageal reflux.

He has performed more than 1500 cholecystectomies (laparoscopic/keyhole removal of the gallbladder) which has given him a wealth of experience in the management of gallstones. All the above clinical activities are performed within both NHS and private practice.

Currently he is the lead clinician for the department of general surgery.
He has also published many articles on his vast experience with laparoscopic/keyhole tension free mesh repair of abdominal wall, incisional and inguinal hernia.
